Sarvapitru Amavasya or the Amavasya Tithi Shradh is performed to offer salvation and happiness to the departed ancestors of one’s family. The Sarvapitru Amavasya occurs on the 1st fortnight in the month of Ashwani as per the Hindu lunar calendar. In 2017, it occurs on 19th September 2017.

Sarvapitru Amavasya is also known as the new moon day or all father’s day. It is a special day for the departed souls in general (irrespective of the day on which they died). It is also an important day in Pitra Paksha. It is also known as Mahalaya Amavasya. This last day is the most important and highly sacred day.

As per the Amavasyant calendar, the Sarva Pitru Amavasya is performed on a new moon day in the month of Bhadrapada. As per the Purnimant calendars, it occurs in the month of Ashwin.

Shradh rituals and prayers are performed for departed family members who died on Purnima tithi, Chaturdashi tithi and on Amavasya. If one is unable to perform the Shradh puja on every tithi, they can perform Shradh puja on this day for all relatives and ancestors. Family members who expired on Purnima tithi are offered Shradh on this day and not on Bhadrapada Purnima.

Unforeseen troubles
In spite our best efforts, we often see that success doesn’t come knocking at our doors. We put in our best efforts yet there are unavoidable circumstances that pose as obstacles and delays. This causes our work to remain unaccomplished. Hence, we cannot achieve our goals.  Even if our deeds are good and no crime is committed by us, our family members continue to face one problem, one after another, or face troubles which don’t seem to go away.

Why do such circumstances occur?
This could be due to our Karmic debt or Pitr Dosh. In fact, Pitr dosh not only creates continuous struggles and hardships but also generates health issues that are inherited which continue for generations.

Problems occurring due to Pitra Dosha:

1. Hurdles and delays in education causing delays in career or deterioration in financial conditions for family
2. Delayed marriage or child conception or child birth issues, divorce, traumatic married life for individual or their children (such problems make us question our Karma)
3. Repeated miscarriage or problem in conceiving
4. Sudden death of individual or family members
5. Suffering from inherited diseases or prolonged illness of family member
6. Mental health issues or retardation in children
7. Physical disabilities in children
8. Continuous issues for children
9. Misbehaviour in children or parents or other family members
10. Familial disputes

Astrospeak brings you an opportunity to offer the Sarvapitru Amavasya puja for your ancestors. This will be a group puja and will be conducted by expert pandits, adhering to all rules and regulations.
