Diwali is one most important festival in Hinduism and is celebrated with much pomp and grandeur in the country. The very first day of Diwali is Dhanteras. It is also known as Dhantrayodashi or Dhanwantri Tridosai. It occurs on the 13th day of the Krishna Paksha in the month of Kartik as per the Hindu Lunar Calendar. It falls two days before Diwali and is celebrated to honour Lord Dhanvantri who is the physician among the Gods and an incarnation of Lord Vishnu.
